Lauren and John’s Gold and Blue Intimate Rooftop Station House Wedding | St. Petersburg, FL | Tampa Wedding Photographer

Lauren first reached out to me about wedding photography back in September. We immediately hit it off and talked about a range of topics from John’s passion for brewing beer, to the woes of the Pittsburgh Steelers. They even called me for a phone consult during a game, which means they really wanted to talk to me! We had a great conversation about Lauren and John’s exact needs for their intimate gathering of about 30 or so of their closest family and friends. I feel like a broken record sometimes, but no wedding is too small, or too big for me. I immediately suggested an engagement session for Lauren and John too. They wanted to meet up before the wedding to get to know me a little bit better, so I figured we should just turn it into a photo shoot! Engagement sessions are the best way for a photographer and couple to get acquainted with one another. I highly suggest them for all of my couples, even those who have been together and/or engaged for awhile! You can check out their fun engagement photos in Downtown St. Petersburg right here!

On the day of the wedding both Lauren and John were chill, relaxed, and ready to go. The Station House in Downtown St. Pete provided for unique backdrops, and a wonderful event space for their wedding. The mix of both classic and modern style decor fit their personalities perfectly. We spent plenty of time doing photos in front of the intriguing golden and black textured world map – and of course with the popular string lights outdoors. Lauren and John are such kind and patient people who trusted my expertise on locations for photographs, and when to do them. We were able to come up with some pretty sculpted and artistic shots around the Station House using both natural and artificial light. While I often prefer to use the available light in a setting, I always bring extra lights to jobs, just in case I want to put a little signature finish on an image, or change the mood entirely. I found myself doing quite a bit of lighting on this job, and I was glad to have my lights with me. John and Lauren appreciated the extra effort and I hope you do too. The day was finished off with a couple heartfelt speeches, some speeches, and lots of cheerful conversations between all of the happy guests. Thank you both for being who you are and I can’t wait to share more of what I’ve got cooking next!
